 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

A man came home from work late again, tired and irritated , to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door. "Daddy, may I ask you a question?"

"Yeah, sure, what is it?" replied the man.

"Daddy, how much money do you make an hour?"

"That's none of your business. What makes you ask such a thing?" the man said angrily.

"I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?" pleaded the little boy.

"If you must know, I make $20.00 an hour."

"Oh," the little boy replied, head bowed.

Looking up, he said, "Daddy, may I borrow $10.00 please?"

The father was furious . "If the only reason you wanted to know how much money I make is just so you can borrow some to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you're being so selfish. I work long, hard hours everyday and don't have time for such childish games."

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even madder about the little boy's questioning. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money. After an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think he may have been a little hard on his son. Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $10.00 and he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

"Are you asleep son?" he asked.

"No daddy, I'm awake," replied the boy.

"I've been thinking, may be I was too hard on you earlier," said the man.

"It's been a long day and I took my  out on you. Here's that $10.00 you asked for."

The little boy sat straight up, beaming. "Oh, thank you daddy" he yelled.

    文本主要内容为:一位父亲工作很晚回到家,他5岁的儿子问他工作一个小时多少钱并向他借10美元。父亲对此很生气并朝儿子发了火。事后,父亲仔细思考后觉得儿子可能有所困难才开的口,所以最后还是借了钱。

[写作思路]

(1)明确故事人物关系(characters)故事中主要人物为父亲the man和他5岁的儿子the little boy

(2)理清故事主要事件(events)父亲工作很晚回到家;儿子问父亲工作一个小时多少钱并向他借10美元;父亲为此生了气并叫儿子回自己房间反思;父亲考虑后觉得儿子事出有因便最后借了这10美元给儿子。

(3)根据已知人物、事件及续写段落首句预测故事发展(development)故事总体的发展应该是儿子用他借的10美元和自己已有的零用钱买了父亲一个小时的时间,此件事情让父亲反思自己以前花太少的时间陪儿子了。续写第一段:根据第二段开头提示的句子,小男孩接下来的行为让父亲感到惭愧。所以可能是小男孩拿着借的钱给父亲买了份礼物,也可能是小男孩拿着向父亲借的钱和自己已有的钱买了父亲一个小时的时间。续写第二段:父亲为自己说过的话感到抱歉,可以写父亲之后用实际行动来弥补儿子,也可以写父亲开始反思以前太把重心放在工作上,而忽略了应多花点时间陪陪儿子。

(4)结合下划线词罗列写作要点(points)结合下划线词和文本内容,展开尽可能丰富的想象,罗列出尽可能多的故事发展情节。例如,第一段可以通过问以下问题来获取写作要点:What would the boy do after he got fathers $10.00? Would he just buy a silly toy or some other nonsense for himself just like what his father said? Would he do something special to his father?等。第二段可以问以下问题来获取写作要点:How would the father feel after hearing what the boy said? What would the father do? What changes would the father make? 等。

Then, the little boy reaching under his pillow, he pulled out some more  up bills. The man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. He grumbled why the boy wanted more money even if he already had some. The little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at the man. "Because I didn't have enough, but now I do," the little boy replied, "Daddy, I have $20.00 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?"

After hearing what the boy said, the man felt so sorry for what he had said to his son. Tears filled his eyes and he gave a deep hug to the son. In the past few years, he was always engaged in work and never spent a single weekend with his son. This $20.00 is just a short  to all of us working so hard for our living. Don’t let time slip through our fingers without having spent some quality time with those who really matter to us.(除给定词外,169 words)
